Battery Simulation Expert
Key Responsibilities
- Develop simulation codes for battery models that cover electrochemical, thermal, mechanical, and abuse scenarios, integrating data-driven approaches with lab and field test data. Special focus is given to the unique properties of silicon/graphite anodes.
- Create frameworks to predict nonlinear aging behaviors in batteries, specifically addressing the rapid loss of active silicon in silicon-graphite electrodes.
- Extend battery lifespan through optimization techniques that combine electrochemical models and machine learning.
- Monitor advancements and research trends in battery longevity prediction within Europe, and support maintaining strong collaborative ties with universities.

Qualifications
- Must have studied in fields such as battery research, energy storage, material science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, electrochemistry, or similar areas, with a Master’s degree required and a Ph.D. preferred.
- Proficient in mathematical modeling of electrochemical cell behavior using partial differential equations (PDEs) or systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs).
- Knowledgeable about electrode swelling and thermal runaway mechanisms.
- Skilled in at least one major programming language such as Python, Matlab & Simulink, Comsol, finite elements, or finite volume tools.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to multicultural environments.
