Senior/Principal Engineer – Video Compression and International Standardization

Your Role:

• Innovative Research in Video Compression: Lead research efforts to develop cutting-edge algorithms in video compression, advancing the current state of technology.
• Image and Video Signal Processing: Work on advanced algorithms for image and video signal processing, contributing to the evolution of future technologies.
• International Standardization: Participate in global standardization organizations like VCEG, MPEG, and JVET, advocating for Huawei’s technologies and helping integrate them into international standards.
• Artificial Intelligence Research: Explore and develop innovative AI algorithms related to video and image processing.
• Algorithm Development and Testing: Implement new algorithms into reference software and perform extensive testing to ensure optimal performance.
• Patent Filing and Technical Documentation: Prepare and submit patents, and write technical reports to document and protect new innovations.

Required Expertise:

• Education: PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics.
• Interest in AI and Video Compression: Strong passion for topics related to video compression and artificial intelligence.
• Proven Research Achievements: Demonstrated success in scientific research within video compression or AI.
• Experience with International Standardization: Experience contributing to organizations like VCEG, MPEG, or JVET, with a track record of having contributions adopted.
• Patent Contributions: Experience in submitting patents related to video or image coding.
• Expertise in Video Coding Standards: In-depth knowledge of international video coding standards, particularly HEVC and VVC.
• Collaboration Skills: Experience working in multinational teams, with a collaborative approach to developing creative solutions.
• Fluent in English: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Understanding of Visual Quality Metrics: Good knowledge of visual quality metrics for evaluating video performance.
• Knowledge of CNN Structures: Solid understanding of the basic principles of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and their training processes.
• Software Skills: Proficient in C/C++, Python, Pytorch, Tensorflow, and Matlab.
