Senior / Principal Researcher – Large-Scale Systems & Applications
Position Overview
A research-driven technology organization is seeking a Senior or Principal Researcher to advance innovation in large-scale computing systems, with a strong focus on application behavior, memory subsystems, and interconnect technologies.
This role involves close collaboration with hardware and software product teams to identify performance bottlenecks, propose architectural enhancements, and explore hardware–software co-design opportunities for modern enterprise and cloud workloads.
The position is suited for highly accomplished researchers with a strong publication record and hands-on experience evaluating large-scale systems in realistic environments.
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct forward-looking research on next-generation large-scale computing systems, with emphasis on application performance, memory architectures, and interconnect technologies.

Collaborate with hardware and software teams to identify key workloads, performance bottlenecks, and system inefficiencies.

Propose and evaluate optimizations to improve system performance, utilization, and energy efficiency.

Identify and explore hardware–software co-design opportunities for accelerating workloads such as:
-
Recommender systems
-
Distributed databases
-
Artificial intelligence applications
-
Cloud-native and serverless workloads
-
-
Develop proof-of-concept implementations and evaluate them on large-scale or production-like test environments.

Conduct rigorous performance analysis using modern profiling and benchmarking toolchains.

Prepare technical reports, whitepapers, and peer-reviewed academic publications.
Minimum Qualifications
-
PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Deep understanding of modern enterprise and cloud applications, including recommender systems, distributed databases, and serverless platforms.

Strong knowledge of memory and networking systems, including:
-
Cache coherence protocols
-
Virtual memory and page-table management
-
NUMA architectures
-
CXL and memory disaggregation
-
RDMA and high-performance networking
-
-
Experience deploying, configuring, and evaluating applications on real hardware platforms.
-
Strong background in performance analysis methodologies and tooling.
-
Ability to critically evaluate research literature and extend state-of-the-art solutions.
-
Demonstrated publication record in top-tier conferences or journals in computer architecture, systems, or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with operating system internals (e.g., Linux kernel development).

Knowledge of hardware virtualization technologies.
-
Familiarity with emerging memory architectures, pooling, and disaggregated infrastructures.

Hands-on experience with large-scale cloud or enterprise deployments.

Practical experience with system-level simulation and modeling of enterprise workloads.
