Senior Researcher – Multimodal Reasoning

You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their R&D site in Helsinki.

We are seeking a visionary researcher to push the boundaries of how artificial intelligence interprets and reasons across complex, multi-layered data. This role is dedicated to bridging the gap between raw sensory input (video, images, text) and high-level cognitive reasoning, including cultural and contextual understanding.
 

Responsibilities

• Advanced Reasoning Research: Investigate and pioneer novel techniques for visual question answering (VQA), cross-modal knowledge grounding, and sophisticated text-based logic.
• Architectural Innovation: Design and deploy next-generation architectures that enable AI to synthesize information from diverse streams—such as video, text, and imagery—into a cohesive understanding.
• Neural-Symbolic Integration: Explore the synergy between knowledge graphs and deep learning to enhance the structured reasoning capabilities of neural networks.
• Efficient Model Design: Engineer high-performance, resource-efficient neural network structures optimized for complex tasks.
• Evaluation & Benchmarking: Develop rigorous datasets and benchmarking protocols to measure the reliability, accuracy, and depth of multimodal reasoning systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Mathematics, or a relevant quantitative field.
• Profound grasp of the theoretical underpinnings of modern artificial intelligence and deep learning.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs), Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and Computer Vision architectures.
• Professional-level coding skills in Python, C++, or Java, supported by deep expertise in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Strong track record of developing robust, high-performance multimodal solutions. Applicants who have pioneered methods that significantly advanced the industry are highly valued.
• Demonstrated success through consistent contributions to top-tier AI conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, or IJCAI.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a drive to challenge the status quo within a diverse, international research environment.
