DevOps/ Systems Integration Engineers
Position: Systems Engineer (DevOps/Systems Integration)
Location: On-site
Full-time: Maximum 8 hours/day
Contract Duration: Initial 12 months, with the possibility of up to 36 months of extensions
Commencement Date: January 16, 2025, or as soon as possible
Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to join our team for a long-term on-site assignment. The role focuses on DevOps and Systems Integration, with primary responsibilities related to integrating and managing SCADA systems (particularly EPICS – Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System), along with InfluxDB and a Grafana front-end.

Key Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring it is integrated into the system effectively.
- Data Acquisition Drivers: Develop and write preliminary data acquisition drivers in Python and Linux for equipment integration with Grafana.
- Deployment Workflows: Create deployment workflows and conduct unit testing using Ansible, Molecule, and Python.
- Collaboration with ICS Group: Work closely with the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) team to define the scope, specifications, and acceptance criteria for integrating new subsystems into the SCADA system (EPICS).
- Network Infrastructure Management: Manage the RP network infrastructure, collaborating with the ICS group to ensure smooth integration and operation.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Linux, Python, and Git experience (minimum 5 years).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Experience working with SCADA systems or industrial control systems, with an understanding of their communication principles.
- Familiarity with data networking and industrial communication protocols.
- Problem-Solving & Approach: A methodical, systematic problem-solving approach, with the ability to break down complex issues and address them effectively.
- Industrial Experience: Experience in an industrial environment or research laboratory.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult, listen, and communicate effectively with a high level of integrity.
- Hands-On Experience: A practical, hands-on attitude toward tasks, with a flexible approach to problem-solving.
- Team Player: A strong collaborator who is proactive and willing to share expertise while listening to others.
- Safety Commitment: A dedication to maintaining a safe working environment, promoting a culture of safety, and aligning with organizational values.
