The Opportunity
We are supporting a major manufacturing automation programme and are looking for an experienced Senior PLC & Industrial Automation Engineer to join a high-profile smart factory project.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex automation systems, integrating production equipment with Ignition SCADA, MES, warehouse systems, factory management platforms and autonomous material handling technologies.
You’ll play a key role in designing scalable PLC software, developing equipment interfaces, integrating factory systems, and supporting commissioning through to production ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities
-
Develop and maintain PLC software for automated production equipment.
-
Design scalable PLC software architectures using reusable function libraries.
-
Integrate production equipment with Ignition SCADA, MES, WMS/EWM and Factory Management Systems.
-
Develop robust OPC UA communication and structured data exchange between automation platforms.
-
Configure equipment interfaces and line-level automation.
-
Support integration with Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Factory Management Systems (FMS) and material flow solutions.
-
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and production start-up.
-
Work across multiple engineering workstreams supporting phased project delivery.

Troubleshoot automation systems and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience
We’re looking for engineers with strong experience in several of the following areas:
PLC & Automation

Reusable Function Block Libraries

IEC 61131-3 programming

Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Rockwell Studio 5000 or equivalent
SCADA & Manufacturing Systems
Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition is highly desirable.
