Mechatronic Lab Technician
You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their manufacturing technology centre in Weilheim (greater Munich).
We are seeking a skilled technician to serve as a vital link between design concepts and physical prototypes within our high-tech laboratory. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, software, and automation experts to assemble and validate precision modules, ensuring that our experimental setups meet rigorous performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Prototype Realization: Partner with internal engineering teams to assemble high-precision prototypes designed by our mechanical and automation specialists.
- Lab Infrastructure Management: Manage the commissioning of essential tools, metrology equipment, materials, and specialized workstations.
- Test Environment Setup: Design and construct temporary test benches, including the physical integration and wiring of mechatronic components.
- Validation & Analysis: Assist in the deployment of test procedures, conduct performance experiments, and support root-cause analysis to identify areas for technical improvement.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain lab standards by actively participating in administration tasks and enforcing 5S methodologies.
- Reporting: Document all experimental findings and provide clear, actionable reports to project managers and module owners.
Qualifications
- Completion of a mechatronics program or equivalent, with an advanced certification such as Industriemeister or Techniker, or a completed Ausbildung (apprenticeship).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working in a laboratory setting focused on industrial or process automation.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in building temporary test stations and assembling precision modules.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and install pneumatic and vacuum control systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CREO) and additive manufacturing (e.g., SLS, SLA).
- Soft Skills & Communication:
- Strong commitment to working within diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Professional fluency in both English and German, with the ability to communicate technical data and report on R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) findings effectively.
