Automation Engineer
Description
The role is based on-site in Uppsala.
As an Automation Engineer, you are responsible for planning, leading, and following up on the implementation and operation of automation solutions for production lines and operational automation systems. The role ensures that facilities and systems meet requirements for safety, availability, quality, and performance in accordance with applicable standards and GMP.
You will work independently to develop and execute engineering plans, troubleshoot and analyze automation-related issues, and drive improvements to ensure stable and compliant operations. The role involves close collaboration with production, project organizations, external suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of existing automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA)

Design and development of automation solutions for biotech and pharmaceutical production

Perform change management, CSV activities, and support deviation investigations

Ensure system reliability, scalability, and OEE optimization

Perform system administration (backups, monitoring, access management, etc.)

Represent automation in CAPEX projects and in interactions with suppliers

Work in accordance with GMP, Part 11, internal policies, and safety requirements
Profile
-
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in electronics, automation, control engineering, or equivalent
-
3–5 years of experience with automation systems, preferably within a GMP-regulated environment
-
Experience with SCADA, historians, and platforms such as Siemens, WinCC, iFix, or Wonderware
-
Ability to work independently, drive assignments, and collaborate with various stakeholders
