Expert Camera Algorithm R&D Engineer – Computational Imaging
Position Overview
A leading technology research organization is seeking an Expert Camera Algorithm R&D Engineer to drive innovation in next-generation mobile imaging systems.
This role focuses on advancing computational imaging algorithms and shaping end-to-end camera system architecture. The position combines deep expertise in image processing, system-level optimization, and cross-domain collaboration across optics, sensors, and embedded platforms.
The successful candidate will play a key role in defining future imaging technologies and delivering high-impact innovations in mobile camera performance and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership in Imaging Algorithms

Serve as a technical authority in pixel reconstruction and computational imaging algorithms.

Influence system-level architecture decisions across image signal processing, sensors, optics, and AI-based pipelines.
-
Drive improvements in image and video quality from both objective and perceptual perspectives.
Algorithm Development & Innovation
-
Define and execute the roadmap for core imaging algorithms, including:
-
Denoising
-
Super-resolution
-
Depth estimation and bokeh rendering
-
Multi-frame fusion
-

Develop next-generation solutions addressing limitations of current imaging approaches.

Continuously evaluate and integrate state-of-the-art methods in image and video processing.
Hardware–Software Co-Design

Propose efficient hardware and system architecture solutions based on:

Power consumption
-
Performance
-
Memory bandwidth
-
Latency
-
Silicon area constraints
-

Optimize algorithms for embedded platforms and real-time processing environments.
End-to-End System Validation

Lead validation of imaging innovations from concept through:

Simulation
-
Prototyping
-
Benchmarking
-

Ensure robust performance across real-world scenarios and product constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including:

ISP architecture and design
-
Sensor and optics engineering
-
Product and system integration teams
-

Mentor senior engineers and contribute to global technical leadership.
Required Qualifications
-
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Vision, Computational Imaging, or a related field.

Extensive industry experience (typically 15+ years) in mobile imaging systems.

Deep expertise in camera system design, including:

Image sensors
-
Optics and mechanics
-
Autofocus and stabilization systems
-
End-to-end image processing pipelines
-

Proven experience developing and deploying computational imaging algorithms.

Strong experience optimizing algorithms for embedded hardware platforms under real-world constraints.

Demonstrated leadership in driving complex, cross-functional engineering projects.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering imaging features for high-end consumer devices.

Strong understanding of perceptual image quality metrics and evaluation methods.

Experience in system-level trade-offs across hardware and software domains.

Background in AI-enhanced imaging pipelines.
