Data Platform Engineer — VideoMini Data & ML Dataset Management

About the role
We are building a governed, automated platform to manage a large and growing collection of?video data?used for machine learning. You will own the end-to-end system:?data ingestion, storage, metadata cataloguing, GDPR/consent tracking, dataset versioning, processing pipelines, and reporting dashboards. You’ll replace ad-hoc file-sharing and manual tracking with a reliable, reproducible, compliant data platform, aligned with?automotive process standards (ASPICE).
What you’ll do

Design and build?automated ingestion pipelines?for large video files (validation, metadata extraction, deduplication, registration).

Model and maintain a?relational metadata catalogue?(videos, people, recording campaigns, cameras/vehicles, dataset usage) with strong data integrity.

Implement?GDPR / consent management: link people to videos, track consent status and expiry, automate notifications to responsible owners, maintain audit trails.

Establish?dataset versioning?and reproducible train/test/validation tracking tied to ML experiments.

Build and maintain?data storage?architecture and?processing pipelines.

Develop?APIs and interfaces?for data input (manual + automated) and browsing.

Design and build?data dashboards and reporting?to visualize data status, dataset usage, GDPR/consent compliance, and operational metrics for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ensure processes and traceability align with?ASPICE?requirements, and integrate the platform with?Codebeamer?(requirements/ALM) for end-to-end traceability between data, requirements, and development artifacts.

Deploy and operate the stack securely, including appropriate isolation for sensitive/GDPR data.

Document and maintain the developed tools and expand them according to the team needs

Occasionally perform data collection and in-car testing and support the development team

Must-have skills

Strong experience in?data engineering?and building?data pipelines?(ingestion, ETL, workflow orchestration).

Solid?relational database design and modelling?(constraints, relationships, data integrity).

Proficiency in a?Python?for pipelines, automation, and API development.

Experience handling?large media/binary data?and working with?object/file storage?systems.

Experience designing?data dashboards and reporting?for varied audiences.

Practical understanding of?GDPR / data protection?in a data-engineering context (PII, consent, retention).

Familiarity with?ML dataset lifecycle?and?visual-data management?workflows.

Great communication skills to align with the development team and support them and ensure proper status reporting.

Nice-to-have

Experience with?containerization?and secure deployment practices.

Data / dataset versioning?and reproducibility practices for ML.

Experience with?data cataloguing / metadata management.

Experience integrating?low-code or internal tooling?for data input and visualization.

Video/media processing?experience.

Infrastructure automation.

Experience working within?ASPICE?process frameworks and/or ISO standards.

Experience integrating with?Codebeamer?or similar ALM/requirements-management tools (APIs, traceability).

Web-based front-end prototyping.
