Principal Simulation Engineer (FEA, Physics)
Principal Simulation Engineer
A fantastic opportunity for a Principal Simulation Engineer with a strong background in Physics and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (COMSOL, ANSYS or similar) to join our team in advancing our proprietary MEMS simulation and design software.
As the Principal Simulation Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and enhancing FEA simulations across various physical domains and comparing simulation results with experimental data. Your contributions will support the development of the MEMS design platform, analyses of anomalies and address complex cross-domain effects. You will collaborate closely with the MEMS Design, Characterization, and Fabrication teams to identify and address gaps in simulation capabilities and to investigate unexpected behaviours of MEMS resonators.
Responsibilities:
- Set up FEA simulations and postprocessing (COMSOL) to support the development of the new features for the MEMS design platform. Support the integration of your simulations into the design platform.
- Set up custom simulations to support the investigation of anomalies and complex cross-domain effects.
- Compare the experiment results with the simulated predictions. Calibrate simulations to match with the experiment. Contribute to the design of experiments and development of the test structures to verify the simulation predictions.
- Communicate with the product development teams to collect feedback and identify the gaps in simulation accuracy and predictive power of the tools.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with FEA simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, or similar platforms. In-depth knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and its application across various physical domains, including mechanics, electrostatics, thermal conductivity, and nonlinear effects.
- Strong grasp of physics principles, enabling quick estimations and the development of simplified mathematical models for behavioral analysis.
- Experience in coding for complex scripting, automating data analysis, and visualizing results, preferably using Python or MATLAB.
- Excellent mathematical skills, including linear algebra, statistics, operator theory, and computational methods.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, clear communication, responsibility for the overall success of the project.
- Technical curiosity.
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
- English fluency in written and spoken communication.
